fresh stART

8 days until fresh stART.  If you haven't been and you love art or just have blank walls staring you blandly in the face, go to fresh stART.  Not only is there great art to be had, artists to meet and tasty snacks to be had, but the money goes to the artists and to LA's Best - another group that I adore and support.

We found a couple great pieces a couple years ago at the event and they hang proudly amongst the many David Weidman's and the Super Heroes on the Toilet series (amazing by the way).

The thrill of the hunt, the buy-it-now-or-it'll be gone feeling, the money going to help after school programs for needy children.  All good.

Now go.

OVO - Oh My!

Saw Cirque du Soleil's OVO on Sunday with my bestie.  All I can say is oh my!  It boggles the mind what those artists can do and what imaginations they have.

Seriously, the trampoline/rock climbing wall combo where the people are flinging themselves up and down a wall as if gravity doesn't exist?  The guy on the moving swinging high-wire balancing on his hands.  Are you kidding me?!

Must mention "Creatura" here.  How on earth did someone dream up a costume that does this?  You've got to see it in motion to believe it.

There were moments that we felt lagged a bit and were kinda filler-ish and the food (if you can call carny snacks food) were unbelievably expensive, but to see such a fun show under the big top with all the oohing and ahing of the crowd was fabulous.

Oh - and thank you bestie for the comp tickets.  How lucky am I!

PS.  I met Emilio Estevez.  Just sayin'

Year of the Dragon

2012 is the Year of the Dragon.  Water Dragon that is.  It is supposed to be a very good, strong and fortunate year for all.  I think we can all use that!

There are a lot of festivities going on in Chinatown and if you haven't been to LA's Chinatown or haven't been there for a while this is the perfect time to explore.

(1904 * 1916 * 1928 * 1940 * 1952 * 1964 * 1976 * 1988 * 2000 * 2012) The Dragon is magnificent. He/She is flamboyant, attractive and full of vitality and strength. In China the Dragon is the imperial symbol, the sign of the emperor, or the male element Yang. The Dragon is the symbol of power and wealth. “Ever since 1996 the year element has been in a destructive relationship with the fixed element of the animal sign. That is the longest unfavorable period in the 60 year cycle of Chinese Astrology, and that means a scarcity of good luck. The year 2012 is thus blessed not only by the lucky Dragon but also the end of that destructive cycle. Furthermore, under the influence of the Dragon it is a yang year. Yang Water is like a flowing river rather than a stagnant lake. Things will move, ideas flow, creativity abound, economies boom, and love blossom in this environment. It is likely to be an exciting year indeed. There will be significant upheavals in 2012. Soaring stock markets, natural disasters, and noteworthy, cultural and political developments will be more the norm than the exception. There will be celebrations of all kinds. And, good luck will be coming your way.” - excerpt from 2012 Dragon.

Great Mid-Century in Kinneloa Canyon just came on the market.

I previewed this David A. Lopez AIA, designed 1957 home yesterday and it is great.  Needs some updating, but mostly original and in excellent condition.  Absolutely love the aggregate walkway that goes from exterior front through the house and back outside.  Awesome.  I also happen to have that at my mid-century duplex so I'm a fan.

Offered at $865,000.  2,018 sq ft (assessor), 27,221 lot (Assessor)
3 beds/2 baths and a den

If you're interested in viewing it - just give me a call.
